All apartments are equipped with facilities such as a gas stove, microwave, ventilation system, and a limited amount of utensils.
2. Are there available vegetarian meal options? Back to the Top
As a vegetarian, you will be able to enjoy many meals in China as it is customary to see dishes prepared with noodles, tofu and various vegetables. Many vegetarian dishes can be seen in menus across China should you choose to dine out.

Every apartment has its own washing machine. For dry cleaning, there are Laundromats available in the surrounding area.
5. What voltage is used in Beijing? Back to the Top
The voltage used in Beijing is 220.
6. Is internet available? Back to the Top
Unlimited hi-speed wireless internet access is available in the apartment provided by Next Step China.
7. How will I get from the airport to my apartment? Back to the Top
Don’t worry about getting to your apartment because as soon as you arrive, Next Step China will be there to welcome you at the airport and provide a complimentary pick up from the airport to the apartment. It is therefore important to send your flight details to Next Step China.
8. Can I drink the tap water? Back to the Top
We highly discourage you from drinking tap water. We will provide you access to bottled water for your apartment.
9. How do I contact my family while living in China? Back to the Top
You can contact your family using the mobile phone provided to you by Next Step China, or you can contact them via internet (eg. Skype, messengers, etc.).
10. Will I have time to travel around China? Back to the Top
One month of rigid studying will not be enough to travel around China since you are limited to only the weekends. However, weekend trips to different parts of China are possible. With proper planning and timing, you’ll be able to travel around the country before and after your Chinese Language Program is finished. Please do not forget to inform Next Step China when you travel as we can grant you additional insurance.
11. Is it safe to travel throughout China alone?Back to the Top
Although foreigners sometimes travel alone, we highly recommend that you travel with at least one additional person. Don’t forget to inform Next Step China and your teachers if you are planning to take a trip outside the city you’re studying in.
