A day in the life

The campus of Peking University is located at the northeast part of the Haidian District in the western suburbs of Beijing.  It is known throughout China, along with its neighbour Tsinghua University, for having one of the most beautiful campuses.

Peking University provides mandatory courses on intensive reading, spoken Chinese, pronunciation, and listening comprehension.  They also include elective courses such as translation, writing, newspaper reading, classical Chinese and more.  Although the campus is farther to the university belt compared to BLCU and Tsinghua, there are also a number of restaurants surrounding the university’s campus.

In addition to regular classes, students are encouraged to participate in student organizations.  The friendships and connections developed through these organizations help a number of students get better acquainted with Chinese language and culture.

Peking University also has a number of facilities to cater to the annual growing number of international students, such as sports stadiums, dining halls, tennis courts, basketball courts, and football field.  The university also contains museums such as the “Museum of University History” and the Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archeology.
