TRAVEL INSURANCE
TRANSIT INSURANCE
Cover is to a maximum of 30 days in total during any one annual period while not residing in Your Country of Study, of which a maximum of 10 days may be within the United States of America. The same exclusions apply to medical benefits when travelling as apply in Your Country of Study (see all other relevant sections of this policy wording for medical benefits and exclusions).
The above is in addition to 2 x 48 hour transit cover for use exclusively during the initial travel from Your Country of Origin to Your Country of Study to commence Your studies and final travel from Your Country of Study to Your Country of Origin when You have completed Your studies.
Medical and Dental
We will pay for:
(B15.1) Emergency Medical and Dental Treatment in accordance with the conditions, benefits and exclusions in Section 1, MEDICAL EXPENSES.
(B15.2) Medical Evacuation in accordance with the benefits and exclusions in Section 2, MEDICAL EVACUATION, REPATRIATION, CANCELLATION, LOSS OF TUITION FEES/DEPOSITS.
Limits (Emergency Medical and Dental Treatment): All plans to Annual Maximum
Co-insurance/Excess (Emergency Medical and Dental Treatment):
StudentCare Total – No outpatient cover. 20% Co-insurance applies (minimum Co-insurance of $35/€30/£20 to a maximum Co-insurance of $2,700/€2,400/£1,600)
StudentCare Plus – $35/€30/£20 Excess on all sources of outpatient treatment
Limits (Medical Evacuation): All plans $59,000/€52,000/£35,000
We will not pay if any of the following apply:
(E15.1) At the time of the trip You are receiving or You are on a waiting list for Inpatient/Daycare treatment in a Hospital.
(E15.2) You are 28+ weeks pregnant.
(E15.3) You are travelling against the advice of a medical practitioner or for the purposes of obtaining medical treatment abroad.
(E15.4) You are aware that You have a Pre-existing Medical Condition, including but not limited to a chronic condition or terminal Illness.
(E15.5) You are aware of any reason, circumstance or cause that could lead to the cancellation or Curtailment of trip when booking.
Luggage or Personal Effects (StudentCare Plus only)
All claims under subsection Luggage or Personal Effects are assessed according to the following:
Conditions:
(C5.1), (C5.3), (C5.4), (C5.5), (C5.6) and (C5.7) (see Section 5, PERSONAL BELONGINGS).
We will pay for:
(B5.1), (B5.2), (B5.4) (see Section 5, PERSONAL BELONGINGS);
and:
(B15.3) Your prescription glasses (limited to one claim per year, to a maximum of $130/€110/£75 (eye examination not covered).
Limit: StudentCare Plus $2,500/€2,250/£1,500
Co-insurance/Excess: $50/€45/£30 Excess
We will not pay for:
(E5.1) to (E5.15) inclusive (see Section 5, PERSONAL BELONGINGS);
and:
(E15.6) More than $545/€480/£320 for any item or pair of items.
(E15.7) More than $1,100/€975/£650 in total for cameras, video cameras, photographic equipment, radios, personal stereo equipment, laptop computers, telescopes and binoculars, antiques, jewellery, watches, furs, precious stones and articles made of or containing gold, silver or other precious metals.
(E15.8) Theft of or damage to contact lenses or non prescription glasses.
(E15.9) Loss arising from Unattended luggage.
(E15.10) Loss of money, traveller’s cheques, credit cards or vouchers when not reported to the appropriate authorities within 24 hours of the discovery of the loss.
(E15.11) Loss of or damage to money packed in suitcases or other similar containers unless carried by You personally.
Delayed Luggage (StudentCare Plus only)
Conditions:
(C15.1) You must provide written confirmation from the carrier that Your luggage was delayed and original receipts for purchases must be submitted to Us.
We will pay for:
(B15.3) Reasonable essential items of clothing and toiletries (limited to a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and change of clothes only) that have been delayed, misdirected or temporarily misplaced by a carrier for 12+ consecutive hours, providing You are not in Your Country of Origin when the delay, misdirection or misplacement occurs.
Limit: StudentCare Plus $250 /€225/£150
Co-insurance/Excess: 12 hour Excess
Loss of Deposits or Curtailment (StudentCare Plus only)
We will pay for:
(B15.4) Loss of deposits and the additional costs You must pay to change Your travel schedule if Your trip is necessarily and unavoidably cancelled due to Unforeseeable causes, which are:
(a) the death, bodily Injury or Illness of You, Your travelling companion, Your Relative aged 074 and living in Your Country of Origin, the person You are travelling to or had arranged to travel to who is a resident in Your Country of Origin;
(b) Your jury service;
(c) Your attendance under subpoena as a witness in a court of law;
(d) Your redundancy where You had been in the same full time employment for a minimum period of 2 years; or
(e) the compulsory quarantine restriction of either You or Your travelling companion.
(B15.5) Irrecoverable costs of the unused portion of Your trip that You have prepaid, less any refunds that may be due, if You have to curtail Your trip on the written advice from a Doctor or Specialist due to Unforeseen Illness or bodily Injury.
Limit: StudentCare Plus $3,400 /€3,000/£2,000
Co-insurance/Excess: $50/€45/£30 Excess
Travel Delay (StudentCare Plus only)
We will pay:
(B15.6) Unexpected costs associated with the delay (including transport expenses, accommodation and meals), if Your travel is delayed for 12+ consecutive hours.
Up to $85/€75/£50 for each full 12 consecutive hour delay to a maximum of $500.
Limit: StudentCare Plus $250 /€225/£150
Co-insurance/Excess: 12 hour Excess
Conditions:
(C15.2) Delay is calculated from the scheduled departure time of the journey and must be due to:
(a) Unforeseeable strike or industrial action.
(b) Adverse weather conditions.
(c) Mechanical breakdown of the scheduled carrying aircraft, boat or vehicle.
Missed Connection (StudentCare Plus only)
We will pay:
(B15.7) Costs of accommodation or travel You incur to reach Your destination or catch up on Your planned itinerary if You miss Your pre booked trip as a result of Public Transport failure.
