Next Step China’s Internship Program provides unpaid and paid internship placements services for university students, graduates, and young professionals to build a competitive advantage in today’s globalized work environment. Internships in China will enable you to bridge professional connections and first-hand experience working in one of the fastest growing economies of the world.

What are the industries you provide internships?

Next Step China makes sure your internship will help you get closer to your career goals and through our extensive networks in China, we are able to offer a wide range of high quality placements across various sectors including law, finance, marketing, advertising, public relations, pharmaceuticals, engineering, tourism, and logistics. The internships take place in both domestic Chinese firms and international corporations.

Are there any fees? If so, how much and why?

Yes, there is a fee for our program. Next Step China does more than just find you an internship. Our company prepares you for the corporate environment and transition to China. Our fees cover the costs of the included Standard Features: 7 night hotel stay, assistance to find you housing where YOU WANT to LIVE, travel and medical insurance, airport transfers, cell phone and more! It doesn’t stop there. After we have received your application and resume our experienced team will customize your resume, conduct mock interviews, provide internship follow-up, any required trouble-shooting, monthly reviews, and coordination with the internship supervisor. Our core service is to place you at a company within your preferred industry. We will work with you throughout the whole process.

The fees for our internship program can be found below:
Internship Program Fee
$1,500 USD

Optional Chinese Language Tutoring for 30 hours a month
$525 USD

If the opportunity presents itself for a longer internship period we will notify you of the fee before a commitment is made to continue with the placement.

Will I need to speak Chinese if I am doing an internship in China?

No, you are not required to speak Chinese. However, we strongly encourage you to learn the language by choosing to have a our qualified tutors teach you a bit of the language so that you can build more relationships while you are here in China. Remember that 关系 “guanxi” is really important here in China and it all starts by learning the language.

Are there any requirements? Is the Internship open to ALL nationalities?

Yes, the internship program is open to all nationalities. Below we have provided the requirements of interns:

symbol1 Speaks fluent English (Fluency in Chinese is not a requirement)
symbol1 Holds a top University Degree or is currently studying in a reputable European or US University.
symbol1 Is passionate about China and keen to learn more about a Chinese work environment.

If I am interested in your Internships in China program, how soon should I sign up?

We advise that you submit your application and resume 3 months before your planned date of arrival. The slots for Next Step China’s internship program are limited and highly competitive as we aim to provide participants with the best customized internship experience possible and to provide our partner corporations with interns that are highly motivated to provide valuable contributions to their company.
